I got up very early on that day. I need to catch up the first bus to Sokcho. My activity on that day was went to Seorak-san at Sokcho.
From my hostel, I went to Dong Seoul Bus Terminal to go to Sokcho. The bus station is at Gangbeon Station, line number 2, exit number 4. I took the first bus 0625 in the morning. It took 2 hours to arrived at Sokcho. The fare for the bus is KRW 16,100 one way.
From Sokcho bus terminal, I took local bus number 7-1 to Seorak-san Sogongwon (Seorak Mountain small park). At the bus stop, I met an ahjussi who is really nice. He asked me where I came from. When I told him I want to go to Seorak-san, he was really excited. We rode the bus together. The fare for the bus is KRW 1,100. I can't use my T-Money. I paid the fare with cash. In the bus, the ahjussi told me a lot about Seorak-san. Even though I can't understand any single words, but he still try to conversed with me. We even exchanged chocolate bar.
Initially, my hiking course that I planned was from Sogongwon, I will take cable car and go to Gwongeumseong. The course is about 1.5 KM and take 30 minutes. Unfortunately, due to strong wind, the cable car was not operated. So, I just wandered around the park before went back to Seoul. I definitely will come back again here if I travel again to Korea.

ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteHope you able to help me on below question.
Do you still remember which bus terminal at sokcho that you arrived when you take bus from Dong Seoul bus terminal?
Are you able to take the bus 7 or 7-1 to Mount Soeraksan from the terminal that you arrived.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers,
Alicia
Hi Alicia,
DeleteThank you for your comment. I took a bus from Dong Seoul Terminal to Sokcho Intercity bus station. All you need to do is tell the person at the ticket counter you want to go to Sokcho. From Sokcho intercity bus terminal, I took local bus no. 7-1 just outside the terminal and seorak-san is the last stop. If you need a map of Sokcho, you can go to the information counter at the terminal. Hope this will help you.
Hi, thank you so much for your info. I'm going in October. Can't wait. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip and good luck for your trip to Sokcho.

ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteHow about returning from sokcho to seoul? Did you buy return ticket? What time bus did you take from sokcho to seoul?
Thank you.
I'm not buying return ticket. To go back to Seoul, after visiting Seoraksan, I went back to Sokcho Intercity bus station and bought ticket to Dong Seoul bus terminal. I bought 4 pm tickets because we arrived there around 3.30 pm and the earliest bus is 4pm.
DeleteHi, thank you for the information. Do you happen to remember the name of the bus company you took?
DeleteI'm sorry. I'm not remember the name of the bus company. but don't worry. Just ask the ticket counter where you can buy ticket to Dong Seoul terminal. They don't have many ticket counters there.
